How matching works

What is a Soul Knock?

Last reviewed by the BiggDate team

Short answer

A Soul Knock is how you start a conversation on BiggDate. Instead of liking a photo, you send a match a question; they answer it and ask you one back, and the chat opens once you have both answered. Soul Knocks have a small daily allowance, so each one is deliberate.

A Soul Knock replaces the like or the swipe. You pick a match you're curious about and send them a question — your own, or one Maahi suggests based on both Soul Profiles. They answer it and send you a question in return. Once both of you have answered, the chat opens.

The point is to filter out split-second, appearance-first decisions. On most dating apps a 'match' means almost nothing; on BiggDate, a completed Soul Knock means both people showed effort and curiosity before any chat began.

Soul Knocks have a small daily allowance on the free tier, and Premium raises it. The limit is there to keep each knock considered, not to sell volume. After a knock is answered, chat works like any messaging app.
